Stonehold Capital acquires established maintenance services businesses across the UK.

We buy one or two businesses a year from retiring owners, appoint a managing director, and hold them permanently.

Our strategy

A permanent owner, not a fund with a clock.

Stonehold Capital was founded to build a group of essential British services businesses and keep them. We have no fund life and no date by which we must sell, so we can make decisions on a ten year view rather than a five year one.

We acquire one to two businesses a year. When an owner steps back we appoint a dedicated managing director to run the company day to day. The name stays, the team stays, and the standards the owner set stay with them. What changes is that the business gains the balance sheet, systems and buying power of a group.

Over time our companies share what makes each of them work: back office, procurement, recruitment, compliance and customers. That is where a group becomes worth more than the businesses inside it.

What we buy

Profitable, unglamorous, and already working.

Operating profit
£500,000 to £1.5m a year, earned consistently and not dependent on one good year.
Revenue
A contracted or repeating base. Planned maintenance, service agreements and statutory inspection work, rather than one off projects.
Where
The United Kingdom and Northern Ireland.
Ownership
Full ownership. We are happy for a seller to stay on for a handover, or to leave on completion.
How we deal
A price agreed early on figures we have already seen, and not re-traded later without a reason we can both point to.
Timetable
An answer in principle within two weeks of seeing the accounts.

About
Alessio Bianchetti

Who you would be selling to.

Stonehold Capital is led by Alessio Bianchetti. Selling a business you spent a working life building is not a transaction you hand to a stranger, so it is worth knowing who is on the other side of the table.

Our view is that value is made in the operations of real businesses, not in financial engineering. We are not looking to strip a company back, merge it into something else or sell it on in three years. We are looking for one good business a year and the chance to run it well for a long time.

Every conversation is private, and stays private whether or not we go further.
